Sumex Fabric covers for snow and ice driving
Fabric car tyre covers for snow and ice driving are a terrific alternative to snow chains.
If you have trouble fitting the traditional snow chains or there is not enough gap between the tyre and the wheel arch, then these auto tyre socks are for you. Lightweight and compact they come in their own carry bag with a pair of gloves and a bag to put them in when you take them off the wheels.
There are two tyre covers per pack which are fitted to the drive wheels. If you have a 4WD then we advise you should use two sets of these auto tyre socks.

Please advise your tyre size when you order or call us to check availability. These covers do have a more limited range of tyre sizes than traditional chains so if you are in a horry please call us first to check.
Fitting couldn't be easier. First apply the handbrake and then place the auto sock over the wheel starting at the top with the elastic behind the wheel. Keep fitting the tyre cover towards the bottom of the wheel as far down as you can go. Next move the car backwards or forwards about 3 feet, then finish fitting the fabric cover. Try to get the tire cover centered whilst fitting it, but it is not crucial, because as long as all the elastic is behind the wheel after driving about 1/3 of a mile the tire cover will centre itself.

It is advisable to check that the car sock is still fitted correctly after you have driven the first 1/3 mile.
Removal is just as easy. Take the top off first and then move the car forward or backward until the car sock is clear of the wheel.

After every use it is advisable to check that the fabric covers and seams have not suffered any damage by sharp stones or rocks under the surface of the snow and ice.
The auto tyre covers are made from a synthetic water repellent material but it is advisable to dry the car tyre covers before putting them back into their carry bag. When you have finished using them and are not likely to do any more driving on snow and ice, wash the fabric covers with cold water, dry them and store them ready for your next trip.

Safety Instructions:
- Always use the correct size for your car
- Follow the instructions carefully
- Do not drive over 30MPH
- Do not accelerate quickly and try to avoid sudden stops
- Turn smoothly and avoid skidding
- Be extra careful when driving on very wet snow especially when mixed with pebble gravel
- If you hear any unusual noises please check the tyre covers as soon as possible
- Remove the fabric socks as soon as you have finished driving on snow and ice
